And I really want to do it to our family desk. But, since I can't paint flowers like that I wonder if I could adhere wallpaper print instead?

I say go for it! You could paint a clear coat over the wallpaper to really make it pop! (And to protect the wallpaper a bit.) And that green desk is really something to envy...even more enviable, that she could paint those flowers herself!
